When awaiting for the recording of full-length album of Brazilian thrash metallers
REVIOLENCE here is the review of their EP „Violent Phoenix“. You
are encouraged to pay special attention to this band and their potential.
Yea, it is worth to say there is certain pressure for thrashers acting only
few years to compete with real “grands” of the style who have long
period of experience. But REVIOLENCE guys make every effort in this contest
and they are quite successful in what they create. The most enchantment of their
music is due to prolonged and perfect guitar parts in a spirit of even power
or heavy metal bands. On the other hand, this sounding also could stand with
real guitarists – virtuosos. I guess the sounding of REVIOLENCE is more
in veins of European thrash metal like KREATOR but also in power of famous SEPULTURA.
Well, what’s about the EP’s tracks? The title composition you can
find to be savage, furious and fast like really violent phoenix. Guitar riffs
here are very technical and ripping and those fill almost half of the song.
Cheers, Guilherme and Chico! Whereas „Abduction“ is rather slow
although hitting with excellent guitar turns as well. One should feel links
of certain motives with old METALLICA. But in fact REVIOLENCE sounds in the
best traditions of thrash metal typical to both sides of Atlantic. Of course,
there you can find kind Brazilian taste. Short third tract actually follows
like example of guitars skills and serves as intro to last composition of the
release, “About Angels and Demons”.
Wow, that last one is extreme sally of anger, dynamics, aggression and energy
under front canons of thrash metal. Don’t wonder, guys are here talking
about eternal fight between angels and demons, „paradise is lost! Surprise
gag in a spirit of Spanish guitar changes to fine metal tunes and finally you
find the job of drums artillery to be perfect! Nothing strange, Edson is REVIOLENCE
founder and heart…
All in all you are in return of Brazilian “violent” five and similarly
angry their phoenix. Yeah, I’m feeling kinda nostalgia for metal stage
of this land. And I expect REVIOLENCE has amazing potential and good perspectives
in modern metal fields despite high competition here. Wish you guys all the
best and continue!
