05/14/2011- Review of ‘Modern Beast’ @ Whiplash

“With guaranteed distribution in Germany, Japan, USA and Canada, “Modern Beast” was praised even by German singer Gerre (Tankard). After all, again Reviolence is plagued by the exchange of musicians… Who came out was the lead singer Rod, but the staff didn’t get down : Raphael Wiltemburg contacted and not only continues promoting the album, also released the song “King Of The Night” and the cover for the classic “Allied Forces” (Triumph), available for download on MySpace. Come in and check it out! “ Check the complete review(in portuguese): http://whiplash.net/materias/cds/129703-reviolence.html

04/26/2011- Review of ‘King Of The Night’ @ Fique Metal e Rock

“There are people who like to say that Brazilian Metal is over… Reviolence with this fantastic single King of the Night shut up those clueless.”

It seems like every day now we hear about a new up and coming Thrash metal band that are keeping the flame of the old-school burning. One of the latest batch of bands to try their luck in the genre are Brazilian Thrashers REVIOLENCE who with MODERN BEAST have mixed a little of the old-school with a little of the new-school to create an album with plenty of energy and a whole lot of neck-breaking, chugging thrash riffs. In reality the band have actually been around for quite a while with their first E.P being released way back in 2003, followed by another E.P in 2008, but it has taken the band seven years to bring us their debut full-lengther.

So, was it worth the wait? In a word Absolutely!!! I was very impressed by the bands ability to keep the vibe of the older thrash sound, while still sounding modern enough to be relevant to today’s metal scene, and some of the riffs are among the best I’ve heard in a long time. It took me a little while to warm to the vocals, but once I did they really seemed to suit the songs perfectly. WARNING HELL is the lead off single from the album and is a pretty good representation of what to expect for the rest of the album. Title track MODERN BEAST sound like a cross between KREATOR and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. VIOLENT PHOENIX, THE METAL CHURCH and ABDUCTION are all winners and should be heard by all Thrash fans.

Listeners have a pretty big pool of bands to check out if the are looking for some classic based pure Thrash metal, I just hope that enough people take some interest in REVIOLENCE as they deserve to be bigger than they are. Let’s just hope it’s not another seven years between albums alright boys? Highly recommended.

Review By voices from the Darkside – Germany

Lately the Brazilian based Marquee Records has been releasing both, brutal albums from the classic 80s South American scene and some really good albums from recent bands. And REVIOLENCE (also from Brazil) is no exception. Their brand of modern Thrash Metal may appeal to both, the seasoned veteran Thrasher and the new fan alike. The lead guitar work is outstanding. The leads are tasteful and neatly placed. Bass and drum work provide a great backbone for some really good riffs. In my humble opinion, the drum sound is a bit too processed and a few vocal parts are a little out of tune but that’s about it. This is Thrash Metal, isn’t it? I can hear a clear influence from FORBIDDEN’s “Green” album, since the mix of classic and modern Thrash is very present, specially on the vocals, that reminded me of Mr. Russ Anderson himself. But make no mistake. REVIOLENCE is no copycat and they will Thrash you around with a solid debut. www.myspace.com/reviolence, www.reviolencemetal.com,  www.marquee.com.br

REVIOLENCE „Modern Beast“ – modern beasts bubble hot tar

What kind of association could rise for ordinary man when considering Brazil? Well, worldwide famous carnivals have origins from this country. Also one should know that Brazilians use Portuguese language what is not typical for remaining area of South America. Eventually, heat for World Cup where team of Brazil is forecasted to winning for 6th time reminds famous „Maracana“…

However, extraordinary persons possessed by heavy affairs should be all ears: is it something new in metal stage of country where SEPULTURA and a number of other bands have been born? Yes yes, the four of REVIOLENCE remind about themselves, this time due to release of full-length album „Modern Beast“. The release seemed like to be “cursed” as it reached Lithuania only when was sent twice. Fortunately, the album was put to my record-player at last and I’m far away from feeling that Brazil is a country of football and carnivals. So…

Quiet intro looks like calm before the storm. That is. Thrash metallers whack mightily starting already from the next piece. Sounding of „Trail Of Tears“ gives not any ideas about well-known group carrying this name. But one must find young guitar player Guilherme to be real discovery under sky of metal music! Guitar solos are perfect almost in all tracks if not to tell even more. I guess Chuck Schuldiner (RIP) most probably would be proud to see such musician in the line-up of death metal legend (that is because one can hear certain tunes of REVIOLENCE sound to be similar to DEATH).

Dynamic thrash anger and improved technique run from each next track. Let’s pay attention to title composition where memorable guitar riffs, strong vocals and perfect rhythm section are in harmony. „The Metal Church“ amazes by surprise with power/heavy voice and with twisting sound that turns from lyrical tunes to even aggressive motifs. Again, one can keep in mind old band with the same name and this moment you should find certain parallels in music of both teams.

„Virtual Hero“ is one of more fun and fast pieces in the album that is created in veins of pure thrash metal and distinguishes with exclusive guitar solos again. Next, „Zero Of Me“ is one of most interesting tracks showing up brightness of Rods’ vocals and… yes, good job of guitar player as well.

You cannot blame following four compositions particularly „The Annunciation“ that sounds mightily, like savage and decisively. And Guilhermes’ solos must be noted again, this guy has great future without any doubt.

That is period when “Modern Beast” penetrated my ears several times. And I could tell there is an example of album where all compositions are in accordant completeness. Attempt of REVIOLENCE to play in veins of old thrash metal style rates regard although it is hard to search for originality in genre that exists for many years and undoubtedly has coryphaeus which should not be ready to give up their positions. Just pay attention to „Modern beast“!
